Résumé

Introduction

In recent years there has been a steady increase in severe retinal pathology. Pregnancy affects such basic physiological indices of a woman's organism as a change in the rheological properties of blood, a decrease in peripheral resistance to blood flow, a decrease in the level of metabolism in the tissues of the mother's body due to the increased need for the supply of the fetus. Purpose of the article: objective evaluation of the morphometric parameters of the macular retina in preeclampsia.

Patients et Methodes

The morphometric parameters of the macular retina in 90 pregnant women (180 eyes) with preeclampsia were studied.

Everyone underwent morphometric examination using the method of optical coherence tomography of the macular area ("STRATUS 3000", "Carl Zeiss", Germany). The program "Macular Thickness Map" was used. The parameters of the thickness of the retina in the foveal zone, as well as in the zones, retreated from the fovea at 1 mm, 3 mm and 6 mm.

In addition, the total volume of the macular area was determined (the "Macular Thickness Volume" analysis map).

The study was performed in 1, 2 and 3 trimesters of pregnancy, and also after 2-4 months after childbirth (main group and comparison group).

Résultats

A statistically significant increase in the thickness of the macular retina in women with preeclampsia of moderate to severe degree was revealed.

Discussion

The most significant changes in the macular retina developed to the third trimester in pregnant women with severe preeclampsia. In 2-4 months after birth the average index of the thickness of the fovea decreased, but exceeded its initial values; the macular volume of the retina also remained elevated.

Conclusion

Changes in micromorphometric parameters of the retina directly correlate with the severity of preeclampsia. The detected changes in the macular retina should be taken into account when predicting the risk of macular pathology also many years after delivery.
